I guess I’m more influenced by mass media marketing than I like to think. I remember seeing a commercial for one of those fast-food burger joints advertising their new mushroom Swiss burger, and stating aloud “Mmm. We need to try that one night this week.” Well, tonight turned out to be that night. All the fixin’s were right there in the fridge: sliced baby portabella mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and a package of Morningstar Farms Grillers Prime veggie burgers. Let’s do it!
I was a little bummed at first because the month-old hamburger buns had gotten, well, fuzzy. What the hell, we’ll have bun-less burgers. Then inspiration hit when I remembered that we had a quite a bit of bleu cheese that probably ought to be used. Here’s what I did: sautee’d the mushrooms in a bit of olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic & onion powder. Cooked the burgers per the directions on the package. Topped the burgers with about a tablespoon (maybe a bit more) of the bleu cheese crumbles, and about two tablespoons of the sautee’d mushrooms on top. It turned out really yummy! To round it out we had our usual side salad of baby spinach leaves, tomato, red onion, kalamata olives, feta cheese, and balsamic viniagrette dressing. And some wine. Can’t forget the wine! :)

You make me want to cook more. Lol. Tonight I’m throwin’ some random stuff into a noodle/mushroom type stirfry thing. I’ll have to let you guys know how it goes. I’m sure y’all can find some substitute for the steak I’m gonna throw into it. :-)
